Marshall McLuhan introduces the idea that media has a more significant impact on people than the messages contained within it in “The Medium is the Message,” the first chapter of his book, “Understanding Media: The Extensions of Man.”
Using this essay in a conceptual publication for Speak Magazine inspired me to investigate how different art mediums interact and how they affect the essay's message. I combined photography, collage, and digital design in the spreads, layering them together. I utilized technological imagery and materials to explore the impact of technology on human communication and perceptions.
